This phoot was taken at Unplugged Expo this year and I had such a blast wearing it. I was nervous in competeing this time around in this outfit because I was entering the artisan division along with my boyfriend, whose cosplay I also made. With the exception of our masks (which I modified) and his dress shoes, I made everything we wore for the masquerade, including my bloomers which turned out to be my favourite part of the entire cosplay. Getting a chance to do couple cosplays it always a treat and when I get to be all romantic with my special man I can't help but smile the entire day. It was also super fun to enter a masquerade together, he's always in thr audience supporting me and now I got the chance to have him at my side.
We ended up winning "Best in Show" with this outfit which totally blew my mind! I almost cried when Doc Hol read out the results. I had thought we got nothing and shrugged it off because there was only one award left and then when it turned out we won I actually squealed. This award bumped me up into the master division of competition which still shocks me, competition just got harder AGAIN. But I welcome it. It was just awesome to see all the hard work pay off.
I used three different reference drawings and colour palettes to come up with this design and in the end I couldn't have been happier with what we put together. I dyed the flowers myself also in order to make the wig pop.
Though UNplugged was limited for shooting space we were able to get some awesome shots at the top of the one stairwell. Worked out perfectly. This was my first shoot with the wonderfully talented Chris Skippon and it will certainly not be the last. His photography was awesome and required no editing. I love getting a chance to work with new photographers, everyone has thier own method and I love having mulitple perspectives on a cosplay. Be sure to check out his facebook page, I'll list it below
Keep an eye out for pictures coming in the next few weeks of the entire outfit and pictures of me and Kaito together.
